Regional Seed Systems

OSA is building strong regional seed networks across the U.S. to create change on a national scale. Over the years we have expanded our services on the ground in the Northwest and California, and are currently expanding into the Southeast. These services include education for farmers, students, and industry to increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of organic seed produced in the region. This education also increases the capacity for farmers and others to engage in variety trials and plant breeding activities. Collectively these regional networks represent a national movement of seed stewardship, fostering collaborative research and new markets for seed production and distribution.

"Organic Seed Alliance has been an indispensable resource for our farm, from conducting field trials to producing seed. Organic seed is the cornerstone of our vegetable production. Without varieties that have been bred and selected for organic growing conditions, we would be left with low-vigor crops adapted to high-input farms."
