About the Role
The Communications Assistant is responsible for coordinating Organic Seed Alliance’s digital and print communications. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Outreach, this role includes managing web and social media platforms, producing newsletters and outreach materials, and supporting storytelling and promotion across all program areas. The role is essential to maintaining OSA’s public presence and expanding the reach of its mission.
This individual is a strong communicator and creative designer who enjoys translating programmatic work into compelling public-facing content. They thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and are committed to fostering inclusive, equitable, and authentic communication.
Responsibilities
- Implement design and content updates for OSA’s website (WordPress), ensuring accessibility and brand alignment.
- Produce and distribute the quarterly newsletter through EveryAction with input from the Assistant Director of Outreach, Leadership Team and staff.
- Produce promotional materials in collaboration with staff.
- Coordinate promotion of all OSA events and programmatic milestones.
- Maintain an editorial calendar and align communications with ongoing and emerging organizational priorities.
- Coordinate and schedule social media posts using Hootsuite or similar tools.
- Archive and organize communications materials for internal and external reference.
- With the support of the Assistant Director of Outreach, coordinate with contractors (e.g., graphic designers) for additional creative assets as needed.
- Participate in Staff Calls and Events as available and as funding allows.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Experience managing web (WordPress) and social media platforms (Hootsuite, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter).
- Strong design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality design and communications materials
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer and online technology skills
- Experience in food systems and/or organic agriculture a plus
