Join OSA, University of Wisconsin-Madison, MOSES, and workshop host We Grow LLC on June 28, 2018, for a workshop on identifying the right varieties for your farm. You’ll have the opportunity to tour ongoing trials and hear details about the trial from the farmer. Learn why they chose the crop they did and how they decided to design the trial. We’ll also hear from OSA and University of Wisconsin-Madison educators about the benefits of conducting on-farm trials and how to design them to meet your goals without adding unnecessary work to the farm.
This trial location features hoop house broccoli. We Grow LLC is a produce farm in northern Taylor County Wisconsin providing pastured heritage breed pork and free-range broiler chickens along with a wide-array of seasonal vegetable grown without the use of synthetic inputs in a community supported agricultural (CSA) system. They use organic certified, non-GMO seeds.
The workshop will include time to network and walk the field with trial hosts, and refreshments. Pre-registration is requested (see below).
This event is part of a larger project aimed at helping farmers identify the best varieties for their farm which includes a series of webinars, the new The Grower’s Guide to Conducting On-farm Variety Trials publication, and a series of on-farm variety trial workshops throughout the midwest.
