USDA’s National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) is meeting in Seattle from April 26 – 29, 2011, at the Red Lion Hotel on Fifth Street (1415 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101).

The NOSB represents different stakeholders in the organic community and is authorized under the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA) to make recommendations regarding the organic standards, such as whether a substance should be allowed or prohibited in organic production or handling. The board also advises the Secretary on other aspects of the implementation of OFPA.

Their recommendations matter! And so do yours, which is why you should note the public comment portions of the meeting agenda (opens PDF). For talking points on the issues included in this agenda, read the National Organic Coalition’s comments (opens PDF). More details here.
