Earlier this month, OSA’s John Navazio experienced his first Provender Alliance conference to accept the “Perfect Propagator Award” on behalf of our organization.
Executive Director of Provender Alliance, Susan Schechter, says OSA received the award for “protecting organic seed and ensuring vital food security for generations to come.”
“Provender names each award based on the recipient, so each award is unique,” says Schechter, adding that award recipients are determined by recommendations from Provender members.
OSA is honored to receive the award, and we look forward to future collaborations with the organization’s hard-working board, staff, and members. This past summer, Provender Alliance helped us secure more than 150 signatures for a letter addressed to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture in response to a GE wheat contamination event in Oregon.
For more than 30 years, Provender Alliance has provided networking opportunities, outreach, and education to natural food industries doing business in the Northwest. The non-profit now boast 150 members. Their conference provides a fun and cooperative atmosphere for workshops, meetings, speakers, and informal networking sessions to share ideas, solve common challenges, and discuss issues important to the industry.
The next Provender Alliance conference is scheduled for Oct. 1 – 3, 2014, in Hood River, Oregon.
