Call for Conference Input and Proposals

logo-osgc2016-FINAL-smallOrganic Seed Alliance invites you to help shape the 8th Organic Seed Growers Conference by providing proposals for content. This is your opportunity to share important research and ask timely questions related to organic seed. The conference will be held February 4-6, 2016, in Corvallis, OR, and is the only event that brings together diverse members of the organic seed community in two days of presentations and networking events focused solely on organic seed. We welcome your proposals for presentations, workshops, posters, panels, and roundtables.

Learn more and submit your conference proposal here.

Theme
Conference attendees receive hands-on instruction, results from cutting edge research, updates on seed policy and advocacy efforts, and inspiring stories from the field. The 8th
Organic Seed Growers Conference theme is Cultivating Resilience, a current assessment and roadmap for building organic seed systems that are ecologically, socially, and economically resilient. While we welcome a diversity of proposals, those that fit the following categories are encouraged:

• Advancements in organic plant breeding
• Breeding for resiliency and biodiversity, including to mitigate the impacts of climate change
• Farmer-led breeding projects
• New models for organic seed production, quality assurance, enterprise development, and commercializing new varieties (e.g., alternative approaches to intellectual property)
• Understanding the economics of seed production

Deadline
Proposals must be submitted by July 15, 2015. Applicants will be notified by September 1, 2015.

Selection process
Proposals are evaluated and chosen by a review committee with diverse, national representation from the organic seed community. The agenda is also informed by input received from past conferences.

Conference location
The conference venue is Oregon State University, a beautiful facility located on campus in Corvallis. Registration opens in September of 2015.
