California Training: Learn How to Grow Organic Seed

Join the Northeastern California Seed Hub to learn how to incorporate organic seed production into your diversified farm plan. Steve Peters of Organic Seed Alliance and Lee Altier of the Organic Vegetable Project at Chico State University will present this daylong workshop on how to grow organic seed for the commercial marketplace.

What: Fundamentals of Commercial Organic Seed Production Workshop and Field Day
When: Saturday, May 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Chico State University Farm, 311 Nicholas C. Schouten Ln, Chico, CA
Cost: $25 workshop only, $37 workshop and catered lunch
Register: Space is limited so register today

This workshop will include training on seed biology fundamentals; managing population size and isolation distances; seed production, harvesting, and cleaning practices; basic on-farm variety improvement and breeding techniques; and economics of seed production. We’ll also have hands-on equipment demonstrations and tour seed trials on the farm.
