Tell Congress: Vote No on House Farm Bill

We have a big problem in Washington, DC: one that could harm farmers and communities around the country. The House of Representatives is poised to vote on the 2018 Farm Bill in the coming days and the bill isn’t good.

Though the enormous package includes a much-needed increase for organic research, the balance of the bill is bad, as it fails to support rural communities, local food systems, public cultivar development, conservation programs, organic cost-share programs, and more. Read the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition’s Top Ten Reasons to Reject the House Farm Bill for details. In short, if this bill passes, it could set us back decades.

The good news is it hasn’t passed yet. Can you help us kill this bill?

Contact your representative (call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 for assistance) and leave a message like this one:

Hello, my name is [___] and I’m a constituent. Please vote NO on H.R. 2 – the 2018 Farm Bill. This bill will harm our farmers and communities and must be defeated so a decent bill can be brought back for consideration later this year. Congress must do more to support our communities, local food systems, and organic farmers. Thank you.

Thank you for taking 30 seconds to call right now. If this bill fails, it sends a message to the House of Representatives that they must go back to the drawing board and write a better bill.

Every call makes a difference. Thanks for taking action today!

P.S. Stay tuned for more actions – we may have a chance in the coming days to support amendments that help improve the bill, and the Senate has begun drafting its own version of the bill. We can still ensure it contains the support farmers and communities need.
