Bridges Organic Produce, founded in 2002 in Portland, Oregon, has a mission as an organic distributor to enable every stakeholder in the system to thrive, from growers and farmworkers to retailers, consumers and the environment. With the goal of helping mid-sized organic growers maximize their potential in the marketplace, founder Ben Johnson believes that by communicating honestly and respectfully with both growers and buyers, he builds a stronger and more equitable business that furthers the organic trade.
“We believe organic agriculture is a vital way to nurture the health of our families and the environment we all share. As a distributor, we ensure our own success by prioritizing long-term relationships over short-term gains, consistently sourcing the highest quality organic produce, and treating our growers, customers, and staff with respect. That’s produce with heart, and that’s what Bridges is all about.”
Bridges offers a wide selection of fruits and vegetables from certified organic farms located in the Pacific Northwest, Canada, Mexico, Argentina and New Zealand. Their mission to promote the organic community and the environment is evident in the organizations they support.
Bridges Organic Produce has been an OSA business member since the program began in 2015.
In Ben’s words: “We love to support OSA because we firmly believe that breeding seeds that yield resilient, tastier and more diverse crops is a critical step in strengthening and improving our food supply.”
