11th Organic Seed Growers Conference Draws Over 1,200 Participants

Artwork by Carmen Kelly IG california_dirt

Last month, over 1,200 seed people from 48 U.S. states and 39 countries from across the Earth participated virtually in the weeklong 11th Organic Seed Growers Conference. The biennial gathering is the largest conference in the U.S. focused solely on organic seed, and creates spaces where experienced and emerging seed stewards can convene timely conversations, educational trainings, and strategy sessions. This year’s conference was held on Organic Seed Commons, a new online platform where seed people can connect, learn, and grow with one another.

The conference agenda included over 70 sessions and 180+ presenters, and offered live Spanish and French interpretation. The event was envisioned and developed by the Conference Planning Committee led by Organic Seed Alliance’s outreach director Cathleen McCluskey.

Event Space and Session Recordings

All conference sessions, networking, the seed swap, and celebrations were held in Organic Seed Commons. The event space is still live and includes sessions recordings, pre-recorded virtual farm tours, poster sessions, and lightning talks, and other seed resources. We welcome you to explore the event space. If you’re not already in Organic Seed Commons, you’ll be prompted to join when you click the button below.

Most conference sessions were recorded, including panel discussions, research presentations, and the opening and closing ceremonies with keynote presentations from Jim Embry of the Sustainable Communities Network and Vivien Sansour of the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library. These are available in the conference event space.
