A Visit to the East Coast: Meeting Ujamaa and more!

by Ana Galvis

I want to share with all of you that from November 3rd to November 5th, 2023 I had the opportunity to visit the East Coast of this country to attend the Ujamaa annual convening.

During the meeting, many interesting conversations began for me, and I was impressed by the amount of diversity that the meeting harbored. I saw people from the academic sector, farmers, artists, scientists, teachers, the business sector, and of course the non-profit sector. All of them seemed very respectful and supportive of Ujamaa’s work and organic seed.

One of the proposals that caught my attention was the Food Bill of Rights by IAMWANDA.ORG, a call for food justice.

The final thing I want to share with you all was inspired by my visit to the East, my interaction with the Ujamaa membership and many other people, and for the current historic moment. A prayer:

I pray for every human being
that is now losing peace and life
in the midst of war and death

I pray for the Earth

May her potential to become paradise be consolidated

May it be

May each ecological cycle be  balanced, harmonized.
May every relationship be balanced, harmonized.
May every conflict be balanced, harmonized
May every desire be balanced, harmonized.
May every ambition be balanced, harmonized.
May each passion be balanced, harmonized.

May our potential to achieve true peace be consolidated

May it be
