Organic Seed Commons virtual platform

The summit is being offered as a pay-what-you can event, with a suggested ticket price of $75. This includes food, lodging, and participation in the summit. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the summit location, and may choose to lodge off site if desired.

A limited number of travel scholarships are available for those for whom registration and travel costs present a burden. Scholarship applicants must submit registration by January 21 to be considered for funds.

Getting Ready

The Summit is a gathering for California-based seed growers to network, exchange knowledge, and develop collective actions to build sustainable, profitable, and resilient seed systems in the state. The content will focus on California state.

The success of the summit will come in part from what we bring to it. We encourage you to share topics, speaker suggestions, or presentation ideas in your registration form.

Schedule

The Summit begins Friday, February 3rd at 2 pm and goes through to Sunday, February 5th in the afternoon. Sessions and workshops will include:

  • Information sharing sessions between seed producers, seed companies, breeders, seed stewards, and other stakeholders on topics such as equipment, collective business models, and cultural connections to seeds.
  • Cooperative planning for shared needs.
  • Networking between participants to help find opportunities for collaboration.
  • Hear research updates and learn about organic seed production.
  • Get the inside scoop on rising investment and policy opportunities.

Meals

Home-cooked meals will be offered for those joining in-person. We will do our best to source organic ingredients and accommodate dietary restrictions. We also welcome any contributions of produce or other ingredients to the cooking pantry.

Accommodations

Susanna Baird Hall
30 Waverly Road
San Anselmo, CA 94960

Lodging is included with in-person registration. Rooms have two single beds each, and separate showers/restrooms accessible on each floor.

Covid Protocols

To create a summit space in which attendees feel safe and healthy, we have developed the following required Covid protocols.

  • Attendees must test before coming on-site.
  • If you test positive or feel sick, opt for online participation instead of in person.
  • Tests will be available on-site.
  • If an attendee tests positive, they must leave and have the option to attend virtually.
  • We are encouraging attendees to mask and use hand sanitizer, both of which will be available on-site.
  • We’ll be monitoring the COVID trends and public health advisories for San Anselmo and may need to adjust plans based on the current situation.

Please stay tuned to email communications for any further changes to the Covid protocols.
