February 7, 2024
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM PST

CANOVI is the Canadian Organic Vegetable Improvment Project, led by The Bauta Family Initiative on Canadian Seed Security in partnership with the University of British Columbia. CIOA is the Carrot Breeding for Organic Agriculture initiative led by the Organic Seed Alliance.

CANOVI and CIOA are collaborators in carrot breeding and trialing, and are proud to co-host this virtual event to talk about 2023 carrot trials across Canada and the USA, as well as the plant breeding effort behind some of the trialed varieties.

At this event we’ll hear from Micaela Colley (Organic Seed Alliance), Phil Simons (US Dept. of Agriculture), and CANOVI Project Leads Weijia Wang and Chris Thoreau. Micaela and Phil will speak to the history of the OSA-bred carrot material, and the CANOVI leads will share information and results of the 2023 cross-Canada trials for both orange and specialty carrots.

There will be lots of time reserved for discussion — a great opportunity to connect with other participating growers and share your experience.
