February 27, 2018
10:00 a.m. | University of California Desert Research and Extension Center | Holtville, California

Join OSA and our partners from the Carrot Improvement for Organic Agriculture (CIOA) project for a field day at the University of California Desert Research and Extension Center (UC-DREC) on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. You’ll have an opportunity to tour and evaluate carrots from the CIOA organic variety trials and breeding lines, along with hybrid carrot trials that include 65 baby carrot entries, 57 cello entries, and 38 specialty entries from the USDA Cooperative Breeding Program.

We’re looking forward to your input! All participants will have a chance to score the entries and share your feedback with researchers. This is a terrific opportunity to help breeders develop new carrot cultivars for the future.

UC-DREC is located off old Highway 80 (Evan Hughes Highway), 8 miles east of El Centro and 3 miles west of Holtville. You can reach the center at (760) 356-3060.

Questions? Please reach out to Micaela Colley at micaela@seedalliance.org for questions about CIOA or Kim Meyers at Kim.Meyers@ars.usda.gov for event logistics.
