Colorado Field Day with Colorado State University

Join Colorado State University for a field day highlighting innovative research in horticulture, food security, and organic seed systems. CSU faculty, staff, and students will share updates from ongoing projects that connect science to practice in support of resilient regional food systems.

Participants will learn about:

  • Agrivoltaics and the solar-powered farm – integrating renewable energy with crop production.
  • Campus food security plots – advancing student-led solutions to food access.
  • Organic vegetable seed production (OSPREY) – supporting regionally adapted seed for Colorado growers.
  • Organic hemp (CBD) pest management – exploring ecological approaches to crop health.

Featured speakers include Dr. Mark Uchanski, Dewanshi Kumari, Dr. Eduardo Gutierrez-Rodriguez, Jane Davey (Horticulture and Landscape Architecture), James Larson (Rams Against Hunger), and Max Schmidtbauer (Agricultural Biology).

This gathering is an opportunity to connect with researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of seed, food, and farming, and to see firsthand the innovations shaping Colorado’s agricultural future.
