Field Day: Ferry Boat Seeds

Event Details

August 1, 2025
11 am | San Juan Island, WA

Visit Ferry Boat Seeds of San Juan Island for an introduction to organic seed production and processing with a special focus on flower seed. This year, Ferry Boat Seeds is hosting a flower seed production trial, offering field day participants an opportunity for a deep dive into flower seed production  practices and opportunities. The tour will also take in vegetable seed production fields and the seed cleaning facility.  Brook and Louisa Brouwer of Ferry Boat Seeds have been growing and cleaning seed on contract since 2018.

Logistics:
Walk aboard the Ferry to Friday Harbor then board an Organic Seed Alliance tour bus to explore Ferry Boat Seeds. We recommend walking aboard the Anacortes to Friday Harbor Ferry then boarding an Organic Seed Alliance tour bus to explore Ferry Boat Seeds and the Salish Seed Prioject. Bus pick up is just outside the Ferry Terminal at 10:30 am, look for an OSA sign!

If you would like to take your own car to the Islands, we recommend reserving a ferry ticket at 7 am on Friday, July 18 or Wednesday, July 30th. Create a login at WSDOT.wa and prepare to reserve a space on the ferry ahead of the 7 am opening.
