Are you interested in a career in seed? Organic Seed Alliance is hosting the Midwest Organic Seed Production Online Course, beginning in 2024. This self-paced program is designed for Midwest-based* farmers that are 1) interested in transitioning to certified organic production or maintaining their certification and 2) interested in including seed saving or commercial seed production in their Organic Systems Plan.
*The Midwest region, defined for this course, includes Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
This interactive course will explore the biological, technical, economic, and socio-political aspects of organic seed production. There are additional readings and videos to dig deeper into certain topics. Appointments for consultation with Organic Seed Alliance staff will be available to answer questions, and there will be opportunities to gather virtually with other course participants to build community and exchange knowledge.
You’ll get a few great benefits from this class, including:
- Access exclusive content. We’ve designed the Organic Seed Production to integrate voices from practicing seed growers, and Organic Seed Alliance’s experienced teachers.
- Meet new people. Your fellow students come from across the Midwest region and bring diverse experiences and deep curiosity to our class.
- Grow your skills. Because the course is self-paced and available 24/7, you will be able to learn at your convenience, and apply what you learn directly to your fieldwork, turning valuable information into an applicable skillset that you’ll carry forward into your lifelong work with seed.
There is no tuition fee. Apply today using the form below, and you will be contacted by our course instructor to invite you to join the course space. Questions? Contact Michael Lordon. michael@seedalliance.org
