California Organic Carrot Variety Trials 2013-2014

This report is the result of a variety trial conducted in 2013 and 2014 by Organic Seed Alliance and Riverdog Farm in the Capay Valley near Guinda, California. The trial included 12 varieties of Nantes-type carrots (6 open-pollinated and 6 F-1 hybrids), one purple-colored, and one Chantenay-type that were grown and evaluated for their value as fresh market bunching types as well as their agronomic and culinary traits. The report includes trial materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, and a photo gallery.
