Vegetable Variety Trials for Local Food Production on the Olympic Peninsula, Washington

In 2009 OSA conducted variety trials in Jefferson County, Washington, for 11 different crops. More than 170 varieties were grown and evaluated for their quality and marketability into the adverse weather conditions of fall and winter. The trial objective was to assist growers in expanding their season and diversifying their winter vegetable production on the Olympic Peninsula to increase access to local foods year round. This report is the result of these trials and includes trial data, methods, and recommendations.
