Organic Seed Alliance Announces New Director of Advocacy, Co-Founder and Former Director Moving to an Advisory Role
Organic Seed Alliance (OSA), a non-profit organization dedicated to the ethical development and stewardship of seed, announced today that Director of Advocacy Matthew Dillon is passing off his leadership position and moving into a long-term advisory role with the organization. Dillon co-founded OSA and served as the organization’s first executive director before taking on the director of advocacy position in 2007. Dillon’s recent accomplishments with the organization include leading the first State of Organic Seed Report, to be released in November.
OSA’s Advocacy Program Specialist Kristina Hubbard has taken over as director of advocacy after a period of collaborating and training under Dillon’s leadership. Hubbard has worked for a number of organizations on seed issues, from agricultural biotechnology policy to industry consolidation. She is the author of a compelling report, titled, Out of Hand: Farmers Face the Consequences of a Consolidated Seed Industry.
“I’m thrilled to be expanding my role with such an effective and professional organization,” Hubbard said. “OSA has a track record of working collaboratively with farmers, universities, businesses and consumers to protect and improve our seed heritage.”
Dillon is launching a marketing and consulting company, Organic Integrity, and will continue work with OSA as an advisor and independent contractor. In his new role he will continue to support the organization’s ability to address its vital mission: the ethical development and stewardship of seed.
