Organic Farming Research Foundation approved its first round of research grants focused on organic seed and breeding as part of the Clif Bar Family Foundation’s Seed Matters initiative. The initiative aims to protect genetic biodiversity and farmer access to seed while reinvigorating seeds and breeds research for non-transgenic crops.
Organic Seed Alliance is an organizational partner in Seed Matters and also the recipient of an OFRF grant. Under the grant, OSA will publish four organic breeding guides: An Introduction to Organic Breeding, and Organic Breeding for Sweet Corn, Carrots, and Tomatoes.
