NOSB to Discuss Organic Seed in Jacksonville this Fall

Join OSA in Jacksonville, FL, this fall for the next meeting of the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) from October 31st through November 2nd. Three seed-related documents are on the agenda, including a proposal for strengthening the organic seed requirement and another proposal that further clarifies excluded methods terminology. The NOSB is also soliciting additional feedback from the organic community on how best to address seed purity (i.e., unwanted genetically engineered material in seed used by organic operations).

Your feedback on these documents is critical to the policy making process. Find the proposals and discussion documents here and the link for submitting your written comments here. Written comments are due by October 11, 2017. You can also provide public comments via two webinars on October 24th and 25th (register at this link). And if you’re headed to Jacksonville, don’t forget to RSVP for the National Organic Coalition’s pre-NOSB meeting on October 30th. Questions about these proposals or your own comments? Contact OSA’s Kiki Hubbard.
