Snapshots from our Kale Breeding Workshop in Canada

This past week, OSA’s Laurie McKenzie traveled by land, air, and sea (okay, just land and sea) to train Canadian farmers and students in kale breeding. Our partners at FarmFolk CityFolk hosted Laurie for this daylong workshop on Vancouver Island that taught participants the basics of breeding kale.

Kale is a popular crop in the region and local farmers are interested in breeding new varieties that will thrive in their region. We’re thrilled to partner with our neighbors to the north on developing new organic varieties optimized to their growing needs. Take a look at a few highlights from the workshop in the slideshow below (photos thanks to FarmFolk CityFolk and Young Agrarians).
