Virtual Farm Bill Learning and Listening Session: Recording and Next Steps

On Aug. 17th, OSA hosted a Virtual Farm Bill Learning and Listening Session with co-hosts from Experimental Farm Network, Farm Action, National Latino Farmers and Ranchers, National Organic Coalition, and National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. The event also featured Spanish interpretation and a presentation from Native Farm Bill Coalition. The session was joined by 150 participants from across the U.S.

Scroll down to watch the event recording.

During small group discussions, participants shared their visions for our food, seed, and farming systems; what actions they are currently taking to achieve their vision and what they would like to do with more resources and support; positive and negative experiences with Farm Bill programs; and what they’d like to see included in the 2023 Farm Bill.

It was very encouraging to see such a strong interest in this discussion and a number of common themes came up:

  • Social Justice
  • Fairness, Accountability, and Reform
  • Training and Education
  • Climate Change
  • Environmental Protections
  • Support for Seed Work
  • Support for Plant Breeding
  • Support for Research
  • Support for Organic

Even though this particular event has ended, our work and collective action will continue. One way to do so is by joining the newly created Seed Policy Network on Organic Seed Commons using the button below.
