Farm Tour Field Day – 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. All are invited to join the OSA NW Research and Education team for a field walk and tasting to learn about our current research projects and partnerships. Featured projects include carrot, spinach, tomato, sorghum, mung bean and buckwheat trials. We’ll start with an overview, walk through the trials and culminate with a participatory taste test of a diverse rainbow of carrot varieties.
Buckwheat Festival– 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Co-hosted with Washington State University. Come on out and join conversations about the potential of buckwheat to diversify our local diets and enhance our farm ecosystems. The festival will include discussions on crop agronomics and variety qualities, hearing from farmers about experiences in growing buckwheat for local markets, seed processing and milling demonstrations, storytelling about buckwheat’s histories and cultural pathways, farm to school opportunities, tastings, celebrations, and more. Hear from event co-hosts Sustainable Seed Systems researchers, WSU and WSDA farm to school leaders, along with chefs, millers, and bakers.
The field day portion of this event is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). TOPP is a program of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative and is administered by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP).
