We’re happy to announce some recent updates to the Organic Seed Producers Directory, specifically a function that helps connect interested seed interns with host farms.
In addition to connecting organic seed producers looking to sell wholesale quantities of organic seed to potential buyers, this most recent update allows a seed producer to advertise in their profile a desire to host seed interns. To create a clearer picture of what a host farm experience would be like for an intern, we’ve included questions that address things like languages spoken on the farm, compensation or amenities available, and what the educational on-farm training looks like.
Seed farms interested in being listed as an Intern Host Farm can fill out this information and be listed in the existing directory. Host farms show up with a green map icon and there is a filter option to the left of the map that generates a list of participating host farms at the bottom of the page.
If you already have a profile on the Organic Seed Producers Directory, please consider expanding your profile to include host farm information. And please help us spread the word to other potential host farms!
Here’s how to update an existing profile:
- If you already have a profile, you can log in here and click on the red button: “Update Your Profile.”
- In your profile, at the bottom, click the toggle to YES under “Are you interested in being a Host Farm?” to open the Intern Host Farm portion of the application. Be sure to answer all the prompts and be as detailed as possible. This gives prospective interns a clear picture of what your farm is like and what they can expect from being hosted by you.

Here’s how to create a new profile:
- Click here to create a new profile.
- Step 1: You’ll be prompted to enter some basic contact information, and to create a username and password.
- Step 2: Next, enter details about your farm or organization.
- Step 3: To complete your basic profile, you’ll select from a list of crop families that you have experience growing and be asked to share a few details about your operation.
- Step 4: Check YES under “Are you interested in being a Host Farm?” to open the Intern Host Farm portion of the application. Be sure to answer all the prompts and be as detailed as possible. This gives prospective interns a clear picture of what your farm is like and what they can expect from being hosted by you.
