Host Farm Info
Host Name:Jessica and Jeremy Shreve
Farm description:Nestled in the heart of Idaho, we are committed to farming methods which build, empower, and support our region's food system, from farm to fork.
Swift River Farm is a small, but mighty certified organic vegetable farm, run by Jeremy Shreve and Jessica McAleese. Each season, we work hard to create dynamic and enduring partnerships between our farm and our community, striving for ecological, economical, and socially just ways to grow and eat our food.
We believe that change happens when a person connects their passion and talents with the needs of the community and when all is said and done, we find ourselves growing more than just good food.

Internship description:Get your hands dirty while learning how to run a small scale, intensive CSA and organic vegetable and seed farm. This apprenticeship is immersive, hands-on, hard work and a whole lotta fun. We are looking for someone interested in either learning about the whole farm perspective (spring through fall) or someone focused more on later summer seed production (late summer/early fall). Activities will include weekly farm tasks, but also can focus on seed production, including hand pollination, seed harvest, crop quality, seed cleaning and garlic planting.
Basic housing provided, as well as daily farm lunches and lots of veggies. Monthly stipend provided. Full season commitment desired, but negotiable based on start/end dates.

Together with interns and community input, we are trying to create more equity, sustainability and diversity in our food system.
